NiFuelFinder ("the App") is operated by the NiFuelFinder team. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

What We Collect

Location data. When you grant permission, the App uses your device's location to find nearby fuel stations and calculate distances. Your location is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers. When you submit a community price report or station request, your approximate location may be sent to verify you are near the station. This location data is not stored after validation.

Vehicle profile. If you choose to enter vehicle details (fuel type, tank size, fuel efficiency), this information is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you use the vehicle lookup feature, your registration number is sent to our server to query the DVLA database. We do not store your registration number — it is used only for the immediate lookup and then discarded.

Fill-up history. Any fill-ups you log are stored locally on your device. They are not sent to our servers.

Favourite stations. Your saved favourites are stored locally on your device.

Community price submissions. If you submit a community price report, we receive the price, fuel type, station identifier, and an anonymous device identifier to prevent spam. We do not collect your name or email address as part of a submission.

Station requests. If you request a missing station, we receive the station name, approximate location, and an anonymous device identifier.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, IP address, or any other personally identifiable information. We do not sell, share, or trade any user data with third parties.

Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised ads in your device's privacy settings. You can also purchase an in-app upgrade to remove all ads permanently.

Data Sources

Fuel price data is sourced from the UK Government Fuel Price Transparency Initiative via the Northern Ireland Department for the Economy. This data is publicly available and updated regularly. Community-submitted prices are displayed separately and clearly labelled.

Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple's MapKit framework to display maps. Apple's own privacy policy governs any data processed by MapKit. The App communicates with our backend server hosted on IONOS (1&1) to retrieve fuel price data. No personal data is included in these requests beyond the standard HTTP headers your device sends automatically.

On-Device Storage

All personal data (vehicle profiles, fill-up history, favourites, notification preferences) is stored on your device only. If you delete the App, this data is permanently removed.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, the App may send local notifications about fuel price changes. These notifications are generated on your device — no push notification service or external server is involved.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing to request, modify, or delete. Community price submissions are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you. If you have any concerns, you can contact us and we will do our best to assist.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
